NO TWO FACES ARE ALIKE
Your face. Two eyes...a nose... a mouth...skin...fat, muscle and bone. We are all made of the same stuff, but more than any other part of our body, the face is unique. It defines who we are, both to ourselves and to others who recognize us by our unique characteristics. As we age, those unique characteristics begin to subtly change until the day comes that you look in the mirror or at a picture and don’t recognize that tired face as your own. When that time comes, you are going to want to know what to do about it. At Nashville Cosmetic Surgery we work with you to understand the full spectrum of options for facial rejuvenation and how they can be combined and personalized to give you the most natural results.
LIKE IT OR NOT - AGING HAPPENS.
Whether your aging process begins in your 30’s, 40’s or 50’s, the process is the same. As we age, cellular turnover slows and our body starts to produce less collagen. Pigment spots and and fine lines around the eyes and lips start to appear, and skin gets thinner, dryer and is less elastic. And it’s not just the skin that’s aging. Changes happen in other layers of the face; facial fat atrophies and descends, and even facial bones change as we age.
The most visible sign of beneath the surface aging is facial laxity. Your skin just isn’t as firm and plump as it used to be. You start to look “tired”. At this point many women and men will turn to injectable fillers to try and plump up the volume that was lost. If used appropriately, this is a great option, but we have all seen those tragic cases of overfilling in a desperate attempt to regain the youthful, plump look.
It is important to realize that all the areas of the face age together. As a result, they all “match” and look natural. We call that “facial harmony”. When considering facial rejuvenation, it is important to consider correcting all areas of aging to keep the face in harmony.
