LOOK GREAT AT ANY AGE
Male Breast Reduction in Nashville, TN
WHAT CAUSES GYNECOMASTIA?
Men of any age can develop gynecomastia. Although it’s more common with obesity, it doesn’t always resolve with weight loss. It can also be related to an endocrine disorder, the use of anabolic steroids, drug use, or simply for no known reason at all. Gynecomastia in puberty, or when caused by endocrine disorders, often resolves on its own or will resolve after treating the underlying medical condition. Regardless of the cause, however, persistent gynecomastia may require surgical treatment.

HOW IS MALE BREAST REDUCTION PERFORMED?
At our Nashville practice, surgical correction of gynecomastia typically consists of some combination of liposuction and excision of excess breast tissue and skin. Dr. Griffin performs liposuction to remove excess fat from the breasts, while fibrous breast tissue and excess skin must be directly excised with a surgical incision. Sometimes a combination of the 2 techniques is required. There are cases where excess breast skin in weight loss patients may require a skin tightening procedure in addition to surgical removal of breast tissue.
